This is the story of a Magpie.  I called her 'Maggie.'  I found her at the Marine Park Arboretum at Woody Point on the Redcliffe Peninsula  - broken and unable to eat. She'd apparently been hit by a car.

After many minutes of trying to catch her, and with the help of a very kind gentleman who eventually managed to throw a rug over her, safely securing her, she was  gently placed into my arms.

She was such a beautiful creature and my heart was breaking for her. I had to get her to a vet ASAP!

I waited and watched as she was carefully placed in a cage, with her warm blanket.  I rang twice to check her progress.

I was told that she was to be X-rayed, and to call back the next morning to learn how she had fared. I knew she was seriously hurt, but I still held hope for her.

The next day, it was with great sadness that I learned of the magnitude of her injuries. She had a badly broken wing and there was no chance of her ever being able to fly again. Also, her jaw was broken. There was no choice but to put her peacefully to sleep.

So this is for Maggie - a beautiful songbird who will now fly high and sing with the Angels!
